Social Media
Today's world primarily focuses on nothing but Social Media, for example, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and many more. I use the four as an example because those are the ones that I use on a regular basis, and they are also the four most popular forms of social media.
Instagram
My favorite social media site is Instagram, because I love anything photography. I was scrolling through it this morning and saw a picture of a baby no older than maybe a year old doing yoga, with this HUGE smile on her face. I absolutely loved it, I started to think how much Social Media as interrupted our live in society, People are constantly glue to their phones and posting pictures continually. For instance, on Instagram, I follow a number of people who post at least 20 pictures a day, some for attentions with the look at me attitude for attention and letting the world know everything they are doing in every moment of their lives including personal relationships. Then there are those who also get on there to sell a type of service, as in, makeup, Vitamins, business's, fitness classes, nutrition, and advice. Then I have friends who just scroll so they don't feel as if they are missing anything in the world. Me personally, I honestly do a little of all, I've posted for the attention (because who doesn't like it every once and a while.), I've hardly posted an just scrolled, and I've unsuccessfully tried to sell makeup (I don't know much about makeup to be selling, but the experience in itself was fun and personally entertaining).
Facebook
Facebook to me is a mixture of Twitter and Instagram. I use this a lot less than I use my Instagram, although Instagram as a feature on it that allows to share what I post there to Facebook. I started using Facebook just as the Myspace FAD started to dwindle. I used it as a way to keep in contact with family and friends. As the years went on I saw myself post less and less, and now all I really post is things others have posted and i would just share it because I either liked it or thought others would like it. As I said with Instagram, people on Facebook would either just re-post, sell, or scroll, or tell everyone about everything in their lives in form of pictures or writing. For example, What movie they are watching that very moment, while watching said movie posting about certain reactions and feeling during certain scenes in the movie verse actually sitting back and enjoying it. Another example would be , "I'm at (insert place here) eating (insert type of food here) with (insert friends tagged name here)." Virtually letting the world know your exact location and what you eat and who you are with most of the time.
Twitter
Twitter is one of the social media I very rarely get on but have and sometimes scroll when I don't fell like going anywhere else. I tend to follow many things on twitter, but in all honesty I don't read most of it because some of it i find boring, for instants I'm not much on politics, but I do follow politics on Twitter, I don't read everything because well if only to be straight forward I like to be unbiased when it comes to talking to people, although I do have knowledge of what going on primarily due to what I follow on twitter and what I read, I have a very divided family on political views. Thankfully I refuse to talk about it with anyone including family, friends, or even strangers. Honestly, I am aware that twitter also has the same as Instagram and Facebook with the people who post on it, there only difference I've seen is people are not as afraid to post to it, for example, a biased opinion and certain topics. I don't post much on there, but I do scroll sometimes.
YouTube
The most popular form of blogging as of late. I don't know Anyone who isn't on YouTube, it is the google of social media, you can find anything to everything on YouTube. For Example, Vlogs on games, makeup, DIY projects, stupid things people do, fitness, diaries, informational, and much more. Personally I find this form of social media entertaining. My husband enjoys watching people do stupid things, gaming, how to's, he also finds this form useful for work for looking things up. My kids use it to watch people either play games or people playing with toys.
Although social media has good features, it's also got bad features. I come a generation that saw the birth of social media and internet addiction. As a kid we started up with the annoying dial up, and video games that you had to but in stores, and movies you could either rent from a movie store or buy. to about 10 years later and a booming internet facelift. to WiFi, the progression of communication through e-mail to communication through instant messenger and thought social media profiles. Renting and buying games online. Streaming TV shows, and movies online. and much more. I've noticed that there are less kids playing outside, and social skills are next to nothing unless through social media. People wake up to their noses immediately in a screen of some sort. For some people there only form of relations are through nothing but social media.
Like I said, just as we are al aware, there will always be a negative to a positive, it's how the world works. I'm not saying I am much better, honestly I'm writing this am I not. I am just as bad when it comes to social media as the next person. I only post this because it's what I've seen with some I know and myself. As a mother I feel my kids are more in tune when they are actually pulled from the screen than to be watching it constantly, but with the way kids are today I've also noticed I cannot keep them completely away from it because it affect social skills with the way other kids are now!
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you either find my opinion helpful or even entertaining. Remember this is an opinion based blog not informative, nor based on a statistical fact. I hope everyone has a wonderful Morning, day, evening, or night.
